Sorry I'm late with this response. I tried to send you an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org, but didn't hear anything from you.
Here is what I sent:
I have all of the information you stated in your Genforum post. I have not been convinced that Joseph's wife - Ann Cook as is given in the marriage record, is the same as his wife - Nancy given on the 1850,1860, & 1870 censuses. But another look at the info, I've conceeded that Ann and Nancy might very well be the same. Do you have any other information on this?
I have as Joseph's children - 1. Mary Ann - b. abt 1819. She m. George Gray in Marshall Co., Virginia (later West Virginia). I have nothing really solid, but Joseph is the only person that can be her Father - unless she came from somewhere else? This would be the "female" given in the 1820 & 1830 censuses.
2.James - b. Oct, 1827 3. Andrew Jackson - b. Feb, 1830 4. Ezekiel - b. June, 1832 5. George W. - b. Feb 16, 1841 6. Mary Melvina - b. abt. 1849 She married Moses Strickler. I have copied birth records for 5 of her children.
I have a will for Joseph Doty of Belmont Co., that lists James, A.J., Ezekiel, and Melvina Strickler as surviving children.
I would love to hear more from you, including more on Mary Melvina's children.
