I am not a member of this family, but have this information on a sheet which is on one of my ancestors.I am entering this information for anyone who can use it.I received these sheets from the Middletown Public Library 125 South Broad St., Middletown, Ohio 45042 (after this address are the numbers 513/424-1251)This was from the Middletown Diary, V.I.; George Crout. The charge in 1984 was $2 for the first sheet and .50 for any additional sheets. The information on the will starts on page 221, and that is all I have.(I do not have a copy of the actual will.)
"Date:November 22, 1847Middletown Diary #173; DANIEL DOTY MAKES A WILL:"
"When Daniel doty asked your scribe to visit him this afternoon, he was most delighted. It was he, who as a pioneer, first picked the site for Middletown on a winter day in 1791. Since that time he has watched over this community as it grew from a single log cabin to a thriving trading center, spreading out over some of the 2950 acres which he owned in this township."
"But today's visit was not a happy one.Daniel is now 82 years old, and in failing health - he knows it.Since his had is shaky, and writing difficult, Daniel asked your scribe to take some notes, as a basis for a will, which he feels it is time for him to write."
"All his living children, or the families of those who are deceased are remembered. As a young man, Daniel Doty married Elizabeth Potter, but she died leaving no children. His second wife, Betsey, the former Elizabeth Crane, had 12 children. While their first child, Joel, was born in New Jersey in 1795, all the other children were born in Middletown.Joel drowned in the Miami River when he was only 11 years old.Brother, Noah, born the following year, died when he was 7.The other ten lived to adulthood, although two other sons have passed on."

"To his oldest living son, John Doty, who married Peggy Jewell, daughter of John Jewell, Doty will give 52 acres lying on the south side of Section 22."
"Daniel Crane Doty will receive al the land bought from Oleder Osborn, except 8 acres, and land purchased from John Crow, all in Section 27, plus some of his holdi8ngs in Section 17."
"Huldah Doty, his eldest daughter, married John Williamson, while son, Joseph Doty married Mary Vail, daughter of Samuel Vail, brother of stephen Vail, who laid out Middletown. These two children were to share the 162 acres, which was the land doty owned in Section 21, and they were to divide this land equally north and south so as to suit their improvements."
"Daughter Betsey (Elizabeth) Doty is the wife of ambrose Doty. She is to have 80 acres of land in the south half of ......... (my sheets end here).
