Ginni, I appreciate the information you have sent.Is there any way we can work a deal where I could pay you in advance to make me a copy of the pages from the Wayne County History article that states David's father is Daniel when you or your friends or relatives go over there? I really need a copy of it and, ironically, my wife and I spent 3 1/2 hours in the Wayne County Courthouse Microfilm Dept. in August making copies of the Last Wills & Testaments of Thomas Doty, Sr., Thomas Doty, Jr. and Sarah Ann Doty (widow of Thomas, Jr.) and could have made copies of the Wayne County History article if we had known it was available.Thomas, Sr. is my Gr. Gr. Gr. Grandfather and Thomas & Sarah are my Gr. Gr. Grandparents.
As far as this being proof enough for the Mayflower Society, I can only tell you when I was in Plymouth, MA in August, the lady there told me they are not as bad as their reputation has become and that they sometimes have to accept evidence other than Death Records, Birth Records and Marriage Records, because they know that a lot of records were destroyed by the British when they burned down Court Houses, etc. and that a lot of states just didn't keep good records.
They told us we need to prove David was Daniel's son and to prove that David and Rachel were married. We have a deed to send them that states David and Rachel, husband and wife, are selling some land to a man, I believe in Ohio.
If I can get a copy of that article, I'll sure try to get them to accept it as proof. If we could find a Death Certificate or Record on David, it would show who his parents were, but we can't find any such documents anywhere.
