Jill, I hope you can help me. I posted this with someone else and I am posting it with you too:
I am trying to find the parents of one of my ancestors, MARY JACKSON, who married Abraham Shotwell in 1741/1751 in NJ. They were Quakers. I think that the best possiblity for her ancestry is this DOTY/JACKSON marriage.
Sarah Doty (b:1706), of Joseph , of Isaac of Edward Doty, married John Jackson and lived in NY. John's father is James Jackson (married Rebecca Hallet) who became a Quaker and moved to NJ. John's brother, Joseph, also moved to NJ.
John and Sarah (Doty) Jackson had, among others, 2 daughters named MARY (b: 1728) and ELIZABETH Jackson (b: 1725).
This MARY JACKSON is mentioned in ancestry.com and states sources as the Edward Doty of the Mayflower Families book. It does not mention her spouse.
I believe this MARY JACKSON may be the one who married Abraham Shotwell and is my ancestor because not only was she most likely from NJ, and her grandfather was a Quaker and moved to NJ, and she married a Quaker, but an Elizabeth Jackson married Abraham Shotwell's brother, Joseph Shotwell, and this MARY JACKSON had a sister by the name of Elizabeth.
Can you shed any light on this with any Doty books you may have? Even if have some info that can offer other info would be appreciated.
