At the end of your posting from 23 APR 2001, you wrote, "but looking in the book, the names & locales seem to indicate that she was of dau. of John, who was the next younger brother of the Cornelius that m. Mary Jane.'
Can you clarify this for me, I'm a little confused and want to be sure I'm reading what you are saying.
My paternal 2-Great Grandmother was one Sarah Jane (DOTY) who married James HURD, (their dau. Harriet m: my Great Grandfather, Edward F. SOWLE) later they were divorced and she married again one Sylvester CODDING.
Have an obit for a Mrs. REYNOLDS, stating she also was born in Mauston, Juneau, WI., as was Sarah Jane, listed as a sister surviving.
We have a photo from an old album of a cemetery stone which reads: John Doty, 12 NOV 1801, 01 MAR 1890. Below his name and dates appear: Eliza Ann DOTY,11 OCT 1811, 01 SEP 1892.We found that stone earlier this year, and there are no other stones around it to help us out.
We've uncovered other info for Eliza Ann PUTNAM, born 10 JUL 1811 in Western, Oneida, NY, married: 1831 (Sp: Datus WRIGHT). Her parents were Peter D. PUTMAN and HANNAH Annatje ADAMS.
Other info we've found give the parents of both Sarah Jane and Mrs. REYNOLDS (by the way she was Mrs. G. C. REYNOLDS of Milton, Rock, WI) as Cornelius DOTY and Mary McCUMBER.
You wrote that Sarah, "was dau. of John, who was the next youner brother of the Cornelius that m. Mary Jane."
Can you help with this new information?Anything would be greatly appreciated.
