Thanks to Howard M. (a very generous gentleman, you know who you are) I have connected Rev. Robert C. Moter with the Lucy Eveline Doty of "Mayflower" descent. I now have another mystery. There is record of a Winifred Moter and John E. McClung being married on October 13, 1904 in Newport, Idaho.Since the Moter surname at that time was few and far between and Robert and Lucy were in the same area then, it was easy to connect Winifred with the Robert and Lucy Doty Moter who were the only Moters in the area at that time. Or so I thought. I then found Robert and Lucy (both age 65, married 42 years) listed in the 1910 Stevens County, State of Washington census with Violet R. McClung, age 4 years, place of birth Idaho, (place of father's birth is Washington, place of mother's birth, unknown) listed in their household as a Granddaughter, but Lucy at the same time states she has had no children and none living? I have never found them listed as having children. I believe Winifred was Violet's mother and John E. McClung her father for this is the only connection the McClungs had with the Moter name during this period. Can someone enlighten me as to why Winifred (related from Lucy's side) was using the name Moter when she married John and what happened to her, John and Violet?
