Drats:)I meant Burke, not Wilkes Co.All of my mom's families are from those parts and stayed a long time so I've come to know most of the history and families of the area (and am related to most of them in one way or another):)
Here's some more info for you (and me) to ponder:
Anna's family were said to have migrated from NC and some accounts say the Yadkin.Anna (Doaty is how it was first spelled) Addington and her husband Charles were married in 1802 and first lived at Hyter's Gap, VA, then moved up to Copper Creek Ridge in 1805.John Dutton (and wife Susannah Stepp?) also purchased property on Copper Creek in 1807.Also, on the membership list for the Copper Creek Primitive Baptist Church in Nickelsville, VA shows both Anna Addington and a BJ Dutton joining in 1811.John Dutton joins the church in 1817.Dutton researchers believe this is Jeremiah's son.I think the BJ must be a Benjamin (Joseph?), but who is he?Descendants later are rejected for the Dawes Roll, but have many statements that John Dutton was Cherokee.Interesting thought.
Here's a tidbit that might better link Daniel Manning:
"144) From Mrs. R.V. Pennington, 23017 Schoolcraft St., Canoga Park, CA 91304, 1967: Micajah Pennington's Bible lists a dau, Savey/Sarey b 24 Nov 1776. At the bottom of the list of ch: 16 Apr 1787 Benj. Yeats sat in to work with Micajah Pennington till 18 yrs of age. 15 Sept 1807 James & Edw Pennington sat with me till 18 yrs old. 16 Sept 1779 ordered by the court that the estates of: John Barton, David Smith, Thos Waters, Daniel Manning, Doty Williams, Joshua Yeates, Micajah Pennington be sold at public auction."
I look forward to hearing any more thoughts you might have.
