Hi Donald There is a yDNA project going for Doty/Doughty that could help you.In fact several of the folks that helped start the project were Doty/Doughty folks from the Carolinas.
One thing interesting so far ......... Four of these Doty/Doughty lines from the Carolinas have perfect matching yDNA........ so they had a common ancestor.
We are still in the early stages of the project, but at this time it looks like that common ancestor was Samuel Doty of NJ who was a son of Edward Doty that came to Plymouth in 1620.
One thing we try to do regarding our ydna project is to get male Doty folks to submit a ydna sample to the lab we use at the University of AZ.This is a simple procedure done all from the home and we get group rates.
Hope you would consider joining our project and becoming a member of our free yahoo discussion group.
Our website is :Doty2Doughtydna.comand there you will find the links to our yahoo site.
