Samuel Doty, son of John Doty and Eunice adams b Stephentown, N Y May 10 1795. Married 1st 1815 Polly Sanford, only dau of David Sanford. Mrs Polly Doty d Manchester, Mich 1859. He m 2nd, there, 23 Oct 1860, Ann M Martin b 1803. She d Manchester, Mich 15 June 1865. He m 3rd, there, 14 Feb 1866 Polly A Linsley, b 1812. She d Manchester, 23 Aug 1869. He d Tecumseh, Mich at the residence of his son, Alvinza Samuel Doty, 3 Sept 1878. He was a consistent and liberal member of the M.E. Church, in which he held the offices of steward and trustee for thirty eight years , and materially aided to build the first M E Churches at Ann Arbor and Manchester. Soon after marriage he settled ar Norway, Herkimer Co, NY, a colthier by trade. Removed 1824 to Lockport, NY, where he bought a farm and resided until 1833, then removed to Ann Arbor, Mich, where he engaged in manufacturing cloth. Was elected 1837 member of State Legislature of Michigan and in 1839 removed again to Manchester, Washtenaw Co, Mich, where he engaged in manufacturing and mercantile business. In 1850 had a shock of apoplexy and retired from business.

No children. In 1881 he is a merchant in East Saginaw, Saginaw Co, Mich Alvinza Samuel b Lockport 18 June 1828 Harriet Sophronia b 24 June 1831 in Lockport. m Leman Barnes. He was a Methodist preacher in Lexington, Sanilac Co Mich.
