Regarding your posting about John Doty who died 1787, with children Moses, Nancy, Lucy, John Jr., and Hannah.I am searching for the parents of my great great grandfather Moses Doty, who was born in 1796 in the Tennessee, NC, or KY area.Since your John died in 1787, his son Moses could not be my Moses (b. 1796), but I'm wondering if you know anything about John's sons?(Could one of them have been my Moses' father?)
I'm exploring the possibility (have been for the last 20 years and getting nowhere slowly) that my Moses may be the son of Isaac Doty who lived in Overton County, TN.This Isaac is the son of Isaac Doty born 1712
This Isaac descends this way: Edward Samuel John (brother of Daniel) Isaac (b 1712) Isaac (b. around 1745)
BUT, I have no proof, only a theory with absolutely nothing to back it up.My Moses lived in Marion County, TN in 1830, and Isaac lived in Overton County.I went throughThe Doty Doten Book and found all the Doty's (spelled Douty in the Census) who were recorded in the Tennessee census in 1830, except Moses.Since Isaac's children's names are not in the book, and based on census records from 1800, Isaac had sons born 1790-1800.So, again, guesswork.
Another possibility is that Moses is desdended from Daniel's line.
If you have any info about the John you listed on the board or his children, it might be helpful to me.Or if you have run across Moses or any male Doty's who may have had sons around 1796, please let me know.My Moses named two of his daughters Nancy and Lucinda, which is what makes me think he may be a part of your John's line.
I tried to send you an e-mail, but looks like your address has changed.
