Just got back from a trip, Yes many Doucets are of part Black decent, and many French Acadians are in fact part Black. In Nova Scotia the British Loyalists fled the States to N.S. they brought with them their slaves ,which upon entry to Canada became Free, as the Gov. issued a order that made them subjects instead of slaves. A group of them were given Grants of land in a area called Salmon River (abt.1782-3) The only French there at the time were Deveaus. Later more French settled the area, most of the Black Loyalists children married French in the area. The decendants of those people still reside around Salmon River, and of course many left and settled elsewhere.ie: U.S. and various locations thruout Canada.
