I'm researching my Merrick ancestry.I have read in the History of Harrison County, that John Merrick was with Levi Douglas in 1772. The account states that John Merrick did not settle in Harrison County, but is believed he went west. My ancestor John Merrick served and died in the Virginia Continental Line at Fort Pitt.He was married to Leticia Huey.I see you have Nancy Ann Merrick listed as John's daughter.I am wondering how you came to this conclusion.I have been thinking she was John's sister.She did apply for his land in Harrison county as an heir to John's estate.Have you seen this documentation?I am also curious as to where the Douglas, Cottrill and Merrick settlers came from.I have not been able to tie my John Merrick to anyone in the Merrick genealogy book.But I have thought that he came from Maryland, Delaware or Virginia.Any information would be helpful.Thank you.
