Hi Louise,
Thank you so much for your kind reply and this wonderful bit of information.I am just about certain you are right...Margaret belongs in his family.I think in James Ingo Dozier's will he names his grandson John Cash(Pretty sure I have that straight). He is my link into your group of Dozier's, and was a son of James Cash and Margaret Dozier?.At this point, much of what I have is from transcribed info, but here is the will abstract:
Will Abstract of James Cash of Washington Co. TN( Dated 1806)Children in bold
Washington Co. TN Wills, 1777-1872, p. 11
James Cash, April 10, 1806
Wife:to lawful wife Margaret all land.....,To eldest son 3 dollars w/ books, James, $100 with part of my books. To son, John, 50 acres. To dau., Sally Thomas, $3.To grandsons, William and Isaac Thomas, sons of dau. Sally, $5.Sons, William, Leonard, Thomas, Zachariah, Asbury, Benjamin.Daughters Margaret Cash, Patsy Anderson.Executors:Wife, son Benjamin and William Calvert Senr. Teste:Joseph Keher, Samuel Berryman.May Sessions, 1807.Signed:James Cash
James and Margaret appear in the deeds of Washington Co. ca. 1787-1806 as do the children in the latter portion of those years.I believe I have James and Margaret a bit before all of this also for a short time in Granville Co. NC....1762-67...and then the family holds that James was a Civilian Commisary for the Revolutionary War(I have not confirmed this but others state that they have), before showing up as I mentioned 1787 in Wash. Co. TN above.
John Cash named in the Will(my ggggGrandfather) is listed as John D. Cash in the oldest records I have for him(War of 1812 muster rolls, Rhea Co. TN census for 1830). Subsequent John D.'s from his family I have as John Dozier Cash. He named his first son James Ingo Cash b. 1801 near Jonesboro, Washington Co. TN d. 1885 Rhea Co. TN.Asbury Cash, brother to John D., was named for the Rev. Asbury who supposedly used to hold church in the Cash home when he came through(from the Autobiographies and Sermons of the Rev. James Ingo Cash....a granson of John D. who wrote his memoirs in the latter 1800's)....thats evidently how that name Asbury got in there. Many of these guysL:John, Zachariah, Asbury, William, Benjamin, James, went to the region of Rhea(portion later renamed Meigs)/Roane Co. border region of East TN as well as Madison Co. AL and Anson Co. NC.
That's about what I have for now.I will try and think of more to report.I wish I knew where James Cash b. ca. 1740 met Margaret Dozier.James's family has been linked by other researchers to Westmoreland Co. VA ca. 1660's-1760's, but I am pretty sure he must have been in other counties in VA....especially to have met and married Margaret.Do we know what counties that James Ingo Dozier was in before moving to KY?Again....thank you so very much for the kind reply and will post any further info that pertains as it comes to me.
