I am a direct desc. of Walter Drennen (Note spelled Drennon - Drinnon - Drinnon - Drinning on various deeds land records - guardianship records of children - military records) My line runs Walter Drennen & ? Marlin - Lawrence Drennen & Sarah (Sally) Day - Susannah Drennen & John Boggs - Margaret Boggs & Joseph Stephen Hicks - George Washington Hicks & Delilah Burdette - Joseph Stephen Hicks & Mildred Fitzwater - Cody Hicks & Edith Walker - Reginald James Hicks & Chloe Marie Sebert - me Mary Hicks & David Driggers --Note Lawrence Drennen died 1783 in Greenbrier Co. W.Va. then Va. and his widow Sarah remarried Emanuel Smith by 1787(Source guardian ship records for her younger children. Sarah (Day) Drennen Smith was the Daughter of Nathaniel Day Sr. & Susan Wylie daughter of James Wylie. Most people on line list Nathaniel Day as killed in the same raid that killed his wife Susan and son David. This is not true and provable with Greenbrier deeds. Family legend say that he was scalped but survived this raid. Nathaniel Day's son John Day was twice married his 2nd wife was Esther Drennen dau. of Walter she was also married before to someone other than John Day. John Day went to Jefferson Co Tenn and there two of his daughters married his sister Sarah (Day) Drennen Smith's sons namely Richard Drennen(Spelled Drinnon on mar rec.) married Mary Day May 15, 1805 Bond by her brother Levi Day - Elizabeth Day married Thomas Drennen August 18, 1800 Bond by her brother Levi Day. Levi Day married Melody Smith Oct. 22, 1805 Bond Thomas Drinnen - Stephen Day married Barbara Weaver Dec. 6, 1802 - Nathaniel Day married Ruth Brittain January 14, 1808 - Hannah Day maried Thomas Berry Nov. 3, 1806. There are several more Drennen/Day marriages in Greene - Cocke - Sevier - Jefferson Co. of Tenn. All are connected to John Day and his sister Sarah (Day) Drennen Smith. Richard Drinnin has a will Jefferson Co. Will Book 1 page 339 named his wife Mary and son James Drinnin Executor was his brother Thomas Drinnin wit. were Nathaniel Day and James Drinnin Dated March 19, 1810. According to several dif. W.Va. History books Jacob Marlin fatherinlaw of Walter Drennen orginaly came from New England. I have done alot of Marlin research. Thomas Marlin Father of Jacob Marlin the W.Va. pioneer settler was in Hunterdown Co. New Jersey. Thomas Marlin's parents are Jacob Marlin and Sarah Armstrong. Many of the Marlin's ended up in Rowan Co. North Carolina. Walter Drennen's son Jacob Drennen(Indian Spy Rev. War under same command as John Day) went to Wood Co. W.Va. John Boggs husband of my Susannah Drennen took a huge tomahawk chop (Way to stake a claim to land other than a corn right.)also in Wood Co. Va./W.Va. of several thousand acres known as the Tilton Survey. I hope this helps. Sincerrely Mary Hicks Driggers
