Drumheiser Family in America
Conrad TROMMERSHAEUSER, who was born 26 Sep 1831 in Tiefenbach, Hesse, Germany, was the first known member of this family to come to America. He arrived in 1849 and promptly settled in St. Clair, Schulykill, Pennsylvania, where we was a miner known as Conrad DRUMHEISER. By 1857 he had married Elizabeth NEARGART and they had their first child, John Friedrick Drumheiser. Before Elizabeth's death in Shamokin, Northumberland, PA, a second son, Charles Drumheiser, was born 25 Oct 1859. Conrad married Henrietta MACKERT in Shamokin, where they had the following children: Elizabeth, born 8 Mar 1862, who later married William LEWIS; Conrad William, born 31 Aug 1864; Philip Willard, born 27 Oct 1866; and Barbara, born 10 Nov 1868, who married William H. ADAMS.
Conrad's father, Peter Georg TROMMERSHAEUSER who was born 10 Dec 1793 in Schoeffengrund/Oberquembach, Hesse, Germany, died 19 Dec 1853 in Tiefenbach. By 1860 Conrad's mother, Louise nee LINDERMANN, born 3 Jul 1797 in Goettingen, Niedersachsen, Prussia, and his brothers, Johann George, Peter, and Johann Friedrich,had joined him in Shamokin, where most married and lived out their lives.
Although Johann Friedrich married L. LORENCE in Shamokin, they returned to Tiefenbach, where he died 13 Nov 1906.
