Margaret Hackett (Duffy)
I am trying to find the parents of Margaret Duffy b. circa 1837who married Abraham Hackett in or around Sayabec, Quebec abt. 1858.
According to the 1881 Quebec Census she was born in Ireland. Her marriage record said she was from PEI but doesn't mention any parents.
To-date I have only been able to find two sets of parents that might be a possibility as they both had a daughter Margaret b. abt. 1837.
1. Patrick Duffy & Margaret Ann Heartz both b. PEI. If Margaret was actually born in Ireland then this would eliminate this couple.
2. Carbery Duffy 50 & his wife Eleanor 42 b. Ireland. They either left County Roscommon on April 9,1847 or arrived in Grosse-Ile, Quebec on that date. They were part of Major Denis Mahon's Sharecropper Tenants list. With them at the time of arrival were 4 children: Margaret 9, Patrick 6, John 4 and Catherine 1 month old.
At this time, I don't know who or if Margaret had any siblings. If anyone knows who her parents are I would appreciate knowing along with the source as proof.
Could someone find her death record in Sayabec to see if there is any mention of parents?
