The next laird of Dundas was James de Dundas (was alive in 1335, but dead by 1364, probably not long before). It is not clear whether he was son of Sir George or of his brother Ralph. Burke's Landed Gentry and Nisbet (article "Dundas of Fingask") hold Sir George as the father, while Margaret Drummons and Nisbet (Article "Dundas of Dundas") says Ralph was the father. James was father of John de Dundas (dead by 1380), whose son was James Dundas, laird of Dundas -1381-1423 (died 1430/31),who married Christina Stewart of Lorne. As James in 1406 is said to be a cousin of the earl of Douglas, it is possible that James' mother was a Douglas.
