MRS. J. S. HENDRICKS Funeral services for MRS. JULIA ANN HENDRICKS, 77, wife of J. S. HENDRICKS, were held at the Methodist Church Saturday afternoon, March 18 with Rev. EARL J. PATTON of Gainesville as the officiating minister, assisted by Rev. LEON MILNER, pastor of the local Methodist Church. Mrs. Hendricks died in the Gainesville Sanitarium on March 17 where she had been carried the day before, suffering with pneumonia. Pallbearers were HAROLD HENDRICKS, TRAVIS DEATON, ROY P. WILSON all of Gainesville, “PERK” LIGON of Bonham, JOHN WILSON of Greenville and WELDON HENDRICKS of Saint Jo, all grandsons of Mrs. Hendricks.
Survivors include the husband, two daughters MRS. J. O. WILSON and MRS. LESTER PHILLIPS both of Saint Jo; four sons JOURNEY J. HENDRICKS of Gainesville, STARLING HENDRICKS of Dye Mound, WILLIAM and GILES HENDRICKS of Saint Jo; four brothers, DAVE DURHAM of Rector, Oklahoma, SAM DURHAM of Roff, Oklahoma, T. D. DURHAM of McKinney and JOHN DURHAM of Gainesville, 17 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Mrs. HENDRICKS, who before her marriage on April 18, 1880, was MISS JULIA ANN DURHAM, born in Tennessee July 7, 1861. Mr. and Mrs. Hendricks came to Texas in 1886 and have lived near Saint Jo for more than 50 years. 49 years ago, she joined the Methodist Church and remained a faithful member. A grand, sweet, gentle mother, a loyal wife has gone to her eternal home with the God she loved and served.
