Paulina Jane Chandler and her mother "Mary Chandler" are listed in the Will of Thomas Beasley, who died in Patrick County, in 28 February 1835.The Will was probated in September 1835.In this Will, Thomas gives 2 pieces of land to Mary Chandler, and if she should die, the land would be divided between her four youngest daughters - Jane, Lucinda, Priscilla, and Judy.
Henry Durham deeds over one/fourth tract of land in 3 July 1840 to Robert Clark, who is representing, Thomas M. Clark, A. Staples, and Alexander Moore. It is mentioned in this deed that the land was acquired throught the Will of Thomas Beasley.
Another deed made 5 May 1843, Henry Durham and wife Jane (this deed states "wife Jane, formerly Jane Chandler" shows Henry and Jane Durham selling another tract of land to Thomas M. Clark. This deed also states that this was land acquired through the Will of Thomas Beasley.
So there is no doubt in my mind that the mother of Paulina Jane Chandler is "Mary Chandler" and that Paulina had 3 sisters - Lucinda Chandler, who married Lewis Bowman - 21 June 1840 in Stokes County, NC;Priscilla Chandler, who married Obadiah Glasgow - 26 June 1840 in Stokes County, NC; and Judith "Judy" Chandler.
FDK Webb is listed as "witness" on all the above marriages, and listed as "witness" on the marriage of Henry Durham and Paulina Jane Chandler -18 September 1839 in Stokes County, NC.
Mary Chandler's name may be a married name and she was a "widow" or Mary Chandler could have beeen a mistress of Thomas Beasley and therefore Thomas Beasley is actually Paulina Jane's father.
