The news is not good. Samuel Bowne Duryea did marry but had no children.
The following is redacted version of my write-up on Samuel:
Samuel Bowne Duryea, born 27 March 1845, died 7 June 1892.He married 23 September 1869 Kate Flanders, daughter of Walter Powers Flanders and Susan Everett Greeley [Bowne Genealogy (1948)].In a newspaper column by Margaret Mara of the Brooklyn Eagle, dated 1 December 1952, we learn that Samuel Bowne Duryea was "...a world traveler and collector of artistic furniture and objects of art." He "left a collection of illuminated manuscripts to the Long Island Historical Society, Pierrepont Street [now the Brooklyn Historical Society], and also bequeathed a large sum of money to the Brooklyn Museum."In a follow-up column regarding Mrs. Samuel Bowne Duryea, Ms. Mara states that Kate Flanders Duryea died in 1922, aged 72.Mara goes on to relate that Kate Flanders was from Milwaukee and a member of the DAR and the Plymouth Church of Brooklyn.Following the death of Kate, the Samuel Bowne Duryea library was sold at public auction. On 12 November 1892, Letters Testamentary were issued to E. Franbis Hyde, the executor, on the estate of Samuel B. Duryea [Kings County Surrogate Court. LT 5:222].There is no mention of survivors and it is assumed they had no children.
