From some short articles about old settlers in the Chickasaw Nation (now Carter Co., OK), published in the September 1925 issues of the Daily Ardmoreite in Ardmore, OK:
....about Fount and Jim Duston who have been making footprints on the sands Duston boys came to town 40 years ago—Speaking of landmarks, who of time in this section of what is now Oklahoma for over 40 years. The three Duston Brothers were born at Richmond in Bedford County, Tennessee on the pike between Petersburg and Shelbyville. After spending their youth in that section, they moved to Texas. They came to this section before Ardmore was even a dream and worked on a ranch. When the town was established, W. O. Duston, oldest of the three, established the largest mercantile in town… W. O. Duston died a few years ago at his home in Mena, Arkansas, but Fount and Jim are still here and going strong. Fount was in the cotton business… elected constable of Ardmore township—a post he still retains. Jim is in the dairy and stock business.
