My husband's family has Dutka's.His great-grandfather was Nick Dutka who came over in the late 1880's to the Clifton area of New Jersey. He came from Galicia which is now the area around Lvov in the Ukraine.Galicia has been variously described as being in Austria, USSR, Ukraine, etc. He sent home for a wife, Julia Sipos who emmigrated in the late 1800's. Nick is listed also as Nik Dymka in naturalization papers for Passaic County NJ.A Toni Dutka lived in their neighborhood on East Clifton Avenue in 1886. I do not know of any siblings that came over with Nick, but I do know he had family in the Lvov area.He left his wife and returned to what was then the USSR in the early 1920's and died sometime around 1925 in a street mugging.Julia found out about it when the Lvov family contacted the US State Department to claim his American assets.
Nick and Julia had children - the girls changed their orginal names to americanized names when they were teenagers.Marie, Michael, Anna, john, Ruth, Emma, Helen, and Grace.
