Dear cousin-
Referring to several inquiries of which yours is my pick, I have answered most of the questions posed about Joseph Duty, his first wife,Christianna Martha Davis Duty in Chapter 6 of my book "A Family called Duty, 100 generations".Joseph and Christianna did indeed have 8 children. The last was about three years old when Joseph returned from the war after an absence of about 4 years. He filed suit for divorce but it was never finalized and finally dismissed for want of prosecution in 1874.In the meantime, he set up housekeeping with Katherine (Kate) Boyce. They moved to Marietta Ohio and had another 8 children.I too have a picture of Joseph in his confederate uniform (shown in the book) but it may not be the same as that mentioned by Mr. Meyers.I think I am correct that Joseph's wife was named Christianna which is verified in census records.I am still seeking info about what happened to her after she was reported in the 1880 census as living in Tyler County as a "widow" with her sons Sylvanus and Andrew.I suspect she died in the 80's because her eldest, Andrew, moved to Marietta in 1890.Would appreciate more precise info on this.None of Kate's kids were twins.Isn't it fun!!
