James received seventy-two and James Harlan fifty-two votes for attorney general; Grant Green received sixty-six and Thos. S. Page fifty-seven votes for auditor; James H. Garrard received sixty-six votes and Daugherty White fifty-six votes for treasurer; Thomas J. Frazier received sixty-six votes and John. B. Herndon fifty-six votes for register of land office; Robert Richardson received sixty-six and Wm. F. Evans fifty-five votes for superintendent of public instruction ; James P. Bates received sixty-six and D. R. Haggard fifty-nine votes for president of board of internal improvement ; James 8. Chrisman received sixty-eight votes and W. 0. Anderson sixty-three votes for Congress; S. H. Boles received sixty- nine votes and W. A. Hoskins received sixty-one votes for senate ; R. Alexander received ninety-five votes for representative.
