Adam Duvall was a former slave of Lewis Duvall of Clinton Co., Ky., who was purchased by Gov. Thomas Elliott Bramlette in 1854. Adam enlisted in the 5th Regiment U.S. Colored Troops with the permission of his owner and served as a sergeant until after the war ended. He is listed in the 1870 Frankfort, Ky., census as a tinner, with wife, Ellen, and five children: Nancy, 14; Larkey, 11; Samuel, 6; Thomas, 3, Diana, 9/12. I haven't been able to find the family in other census data yet. Is anyone out there researching this family?
