I have stopped reviewing this forum, but happened to check it for the first time in months. It appears that the site you refer to has combined two sources - An article which appeared in the 1920's or early 1930's by a John Hood covering the early ancestry
(without specific proof) and Newman's Duvall book in which he SPECULATES that Mareen came from LaVal Normandy.I have a copy of a proposed article which I sent to the Duvall Society with a suggestion that they sponsor a project for research in the Rouen Archives, but to my recollection it was not published. The fact that there was also a
Mareen Duvall in Quebec about the same time as the Maryland Mareen lived, and that his origin has been traced to St. Aubin, leads me to believe that there may be a basis for the early ancestry.I will send the article which I wrote to anyone who requests it.
