I'm researching the Dyke-Dike family as well. I don't know if it is the same person, but this is what I have:
The 1880 census in Hillsborough county has Albion (age 40) and Sara (age 29) Dyke.Their two children are Edna (4) and Fred (7 months).I found Fred in the VT 1900 census living with another family. The head of household is a jewler and optician and Fred is listed as "apprentice".
I don't know anything about Albion's wife, Sarah. But Albion is one of eight children of Benjamin Dyke and Clarissa Carpenter. I have been looking for the names of Benjamin's parents for some time, but I have Clarissa's family going back several generations.
My connection with this is that I believe that this same Benjamin Dyke (father of Albion)had a second marriage after Clarissa died in December of 1844. If it is the same Benjamin Dyke, he married Diana Snow on 7 Feb 1847 and had three children. One of these children, William Dyke, is my gg-granfather.
