William Payton Nelson m 23 Oct 1866 in Roane Co., TN Martha Jane Easter b RC, TN 12 Sep 1847, d/o John J. Easter & Rachel Lane.The family removed to Johnson Co., MO 1878, then to Arcadia, Crawford Co., KS.Martha contracted typhoid fever, her temperature went to 108, and she was admitted to Osawatomie State Hospital, where she died 17 Mar 1910.William was said to have spent so many hours standing by a lamp post in Arcadia grieving, staring into spacethat they named the street "Nelson Street".6 months later he was back in Roane Co. where he remarried Chiney Silcox.I have numerous descendants of William and Martha in my db.
