Re: James H. Conner/Margaret Easterly Marriage

Jane: My notes show that Margaret Easterly was born 19 Nov. 1791 in Shenandoah County, Virginia, to Johann George Easterley and Anna Marie Harpine of Woodstock, VA. She was first married to my gr-gr-uncle, James Harvey Conner, on 13 March 1913 in Greene County, TN. I have seen the marriage certificate while researching in Greene County. They were divorced later, for unknown reasons.
About 1916, she married William Shannon and they had at least four children, Mary Shannon, Martha Shannon, Augusta Fore Shannon and Permilia Shannon. You've obviously heard from a Shannon cousin on this line.
Then, sometime after 1822, she married Gross Scruggs in Jefferson County, TN., and they moved before 1850 to Phillips County, Arkansas. Their children were Clarissa, Onslow, Glenmore, David Rittenhouse and Frederick Stare Scruggs. Scruggs was one of the parents who paid for my gr-gr-grandfather, Maximilian Haney Conner, to teach at Mossy Creek School in Tennessee in 1832. He signed his name to the school house contract, which a descendant of the family still has preserved.
By the way, Margaret's grandparents were Conrad Oesterlin and Catherine Zirkle and Phillip and Mary Harpine on the maternal side. Her parents were married 21 Feb. 1775 in Woodstock, VA. Her father's siblings were Conrad, Jacob M., Phillip Abraham, George, Casper, Braner?, Jonathan Moses, Catherine, Margaret, Mary Ann, and Magdalene Easterly.
