Wife of George Eavenson (1726/7-1816). Chester Co., PA
My ancestor George Eavenson (1726/7-1816) of Thornbury township, Chester Co., married on 28 Sep 1755 at Old Swedes Church, Wilmington, to Mary Williamson. While I have believed that Mary was the daughter of Daniel Williamson, Jr. and Hannah Malin, and as so stated in the book "A Brief Lineage of the Descendants of William Williamson of Thornbury Township, Chester Co., PA", published 1884 in Philadelphia, there are some who believe that Mary was the daughter of Daniel, Jr.'s brother Thomas Williamson and wife Ann Malin. Daniel, Jr. and Thomas were sons of Daniel Williamson, Sr. and wife Mary Smith, Daniel, Sr. having come to Chester Co. in 1682 from England under a contract to work for Robert Taylor of Little Leigh, Cheshire. In any event, George Eavenson was the son of Joseph Eavenson (1689-1771) and wife Catherine George, daughter of Richard and Jane Edward George of Llangerig, Montgomeryshire, Wales. Joseph was the son of the immigrant Thomas Eavenson (1653-1726) and 2nd wife Elizabeth Woodward, Thomas having arrived in Chester Co., PA in 1687 from Acton Parish, Cheshire, the son of Ralph Eavenson (died 1665) and Cicely Orton (died 1677) of Burland, Acton Parish, Cheshire. Will be glad to exchange info with those interested. My email [email protected]
