Re: William Ebourn of Accomack
Carol - I am also tracing the Eborn family, which I believe is an alternate and more recent spelling of Ebourn. The oldest relative that I have found so far is Henry Eborn, who married Elizabeth (Barrow?).He was born about 1650, married before 1702 and died in 1732 or 1733 in Old Hyde County (Now Beaufort County) NC.Much of my information is based on a book compiled by Betty Hicks Cutting -- "The Eborns of Matchapungo, Hyde and Beauford County North Carolina and Allied Families".Henry would be my 10th generation grandfather. The Cutting book indicates that it is believed that Henry Eborn was of English descent and came to North Carolina from the Virginia Colony.William is a frequent name in the Hyde/Beauford County Eborns.
Do you have anything that would tie your William Ebourn of Accomack to Henry Eborn?May a son or brother? This would make my day, in that it would extend my line back another generation.I can provide you a decendency chart for Henry Eborn if it would be helpful.
