Re: Abbot Alexius Edelbrock
Hi Gary - I haven't checked the Edelbrock forum for a while and I was happy to see your posting.I am descended from Alexius Edelbrock also.I have a book, Worship and Work, that has lots of info about him.Your Wilhelm Heinrich (Henry) Edelbrock is the brother of my great grandfather, August J. Edelbrock, b: 5 Oct 1861 in Germany, m: Anna Mary Schwartz, 18 Nov 1884 in St. Cloud, & d: 4 Dec 1927 in Los Angeles, CA.As near as I can tell, there were at least eleven siblings in that batch.I remember spending time with Anna Mary Schwartz when I was a child.
You have one additional insert in the line that my records differ with. You state that Wilhelm Heinrich was the sone of Heinrich Anton, but I show them as brothers.Heinrich lived from 1852-1882 by my records and Wilhelm from 1858 to 1918.
I am a little confused about your statement "came to America in 1880, boarding the ship in Germany under one name and arriving at Ellis Island, NY, using the Edelbrock name."What one name did he board the ship under?
I was recently contacted by a Martin Holtz in Germany (and in German, yet!), who has been trying to reach Robert and Marion Edelbrock in Southern California.I have not been able to get a response from them for him.Do you know of them?
I am torn because I would love to have copies of anything you have that substantiates the family line but I don't want to put you a lot of trouble.I would be happy to pay any costs associated.I am a really amateur genealogist - I have discovered lots of information on the Net but I haven't been able to obtain any "real" documentation or proof.
So, welcome to another Edelbrock cousin.I have a fairly large family on the Oster/Edelbrock side so you have lots more cousins out here.Nice to meet you.
