Sharon,
I'm almost positive that Jesse Edgar is my 3rd-great-grandfather, but simply cannot document it.Susan Howe has done a lot of research on the Bedford County, Va., Edgars and identified a Jesse Edgar in Giles County, TN in 1815 as being a son of James Edgar and Phebe Wright.I have not identified Jesse's wife and had not linked Louis P to him. I can document William Edgar, born in 1822 in TN, as being John Henry's brother.According to my family history, there was another brother named Richard.I have nothing on him.
I have not done any research on the Davenport family.
Ancestor Seekers (utilizing the Mormon Church records) spent several hours researching Jesse and John Henry, but did not come up with anything we don't already know.
I am participating in the Edgar DNA project and have made contact with a distant cousin who descends from the Bedford County Edgars. His 3th-great-grandfather is Thomas Edgar, a brother of James Edgar, probably Jesse's father. So, the DNA results strengthen my belief that I descend from Jesse.
I'll keep you posted. If you're not a member of the DNA project, it doesn't cost anything and we'd love to have you join.
