Re: William Edmonson Burke Co. NC

I don't know who the parents are of my James Edmiston. His name is consistently spelled EDMISTON in Burke Co., NC records.He was born about 1740 and died in 1803 in Burke Co. His first child THAT I HAVE is David Edmiston, b. abt 1766.I don't know where James came from nor who his parents were.He could have had a son, probably first-born, named William, but I can find no record of such a son. His wife's name was Margaret, and I strongly suspect her maiden name was EWING and that she was a sister to Nathaniel EWING, husband of Rebecca Osborne, dau of Col. Alexander Osborne of Rowan-Iredell counties of NC. I really doubt that James and Margaret were the parents of this William...to big a gap in age. I suspect James came from Cecil Co., MD where the EWING family (Joshua) came from.
