In reviewing the Edwards FamilyForum, we find nothing or no one researching the Edwards family from Northern Virginia, and Eastern West Virginia or the surrounding area.We recently discovered a cashe of very old letters and note the suggest part of our family came west to Wheeling West Virginia before 1850.
These note and letters seem to place a number of the Edwards in and around Loudoun Co., and Taylorsville area of northern Virginia. We also have documents written by one Silas Edwards from Monroe county Ohio dated May 4, 1897/98.
One list of family members has a note gives the names of 5 Edwards, William, Alexander, Robert, David and Thomas. this note claims they were born in Wales in the late 17th century of the 1600's and arrived in virginia about 1720.No other information or names can be found.
The letter from Taylorsville Va is dated Feb.20 1884. In this letter is found a list of Edwards.Starting with Hue [Hugh] Edwards whose wife is believed to be Eave or Eve found in family search. Sons of this Hue and Eave are: Hue [Hugh] John, Jacob, Samuel, Joseph, Mahlon [more about him later] and Jesse. daughters of Hue and Eave are Nancy, Plesie and Sallie.
The name Mahlon is found also spelled Mailon in Eastern Ohio and the father of Silas Edwards mentioned above.
Our connection is thru Nancy Edwards. Our research indicated she is Nancy Alice [Allice] Edwards who married Thomas M Parker and is found in Wheeling in the 1850 Census. They are one set of this posters gggrandparents.
Any varification or assistance would be appreciated.
