According to family records our ancestors surname was EIBERG noting that they were Swiss-German.
Here's the information I started with:
Jacob and Catherine EIBERG.Daughter Mary C born in Illinois married Jacob Pickens in Missouri.
I located them on the 1870 Missouri Census in Livingston Co, Medicine Twp.
IBURG, Jacob b Baden, wife Catherine with children: Jacob Jr b IL, Mary b IL, Hanna b Wisconsin, and Albert b Wisconsin.
Also on the same page was a Rudolph IBURG b Baden and two teenaged females Louisa and Elizabeth both b IL. I assume Rudolph to be Jacob's brother.
In 1900 Jacob IBERG and wife Anna, married for 52 years, are living with daughter Mary C Pickens in Neosho, Newton Co. Mo with citizenship of U.S. noted as unknown and both born in Switzerland. She had 4 chidren with 3 living.
