Searching for Relatives of Maria Eisler
my husbands' mothers name was Maria Eisler. She was from Austria. All we know about her are the few details she told him growing up.Which is:
Her father was a photographer in Vienna and either owned or worked at several studios around there. One night as they were preparing to sit down for dinner the SS came in and through them out on the streets. The SS took over there house as a headquarters.According to my husband, Maria's parents were of mixed religion, I believe the father was jewish and the mother catholic, for this reason the family was spared, at that time, from being sent to Camps. However they lived on the streets for awhile, his mother, Maria ended up at a Catholic Convent in Hungary where the convent sheltered jewish children during the war.I don't know what happened to her family. It appears that she was the only one to be sent away.We know for sure she had one brother. From Hungary she some how ended up in England and eventually met an american service man and married in England, later moving to America. Please contact me at [email protected] or [email protected] if you possibly have any information on the Eisler's from Vienna (Wien)
