hI, I've very recently found the ELBOURN site on the net and after reading some of the messages on the site you may be able to help. After tracing my male line back to 1570 , I decided to trace my Grandmothers surname of ELBOURNE. This maiden name of my grandmother was only found out just recently , as my grandmother was unofficially adopted. She has now passed away. She knew her date of birth and I did some searching and there was only one birth on that day in our district, a GladysELBOURNE.born 1917, Eastbourne, East Sussex, England There was only 2 people in the area of this name and made some calls and to my surprise this elderly person knew the whole story.
The reason for me contacting you is because I have traced her mother. As she was illegitimate who's name is also GladysFlorence Elizabeth ELBOURNE and she was born in 1892/3 , andshe must have come from another area as there were no Elbournes in the 1881 census in Sussex . Have you come across a Gladys ELBOURNE born 1892/3 during your research , or do you have any theories. Its interesting that Gladys Florence Elizabeth ELBOURNE had a son Leonard Keith ELBOURNE IN 1914, AND YOU HAVE SOME KEITH'S IN YOUR LINE ! Regards Neil Maryan
