An Infamous Ellingson
A story in 1925 caused a great uproar from its location in San Francisco to points as far as Paris. It involved the murder of Mrs. Anna (Erickson) Ellingson by her 16-year-old daughter, Dorothy Ellingson. The case was covered in its grim details in newspapers and periodicals throughout the nation, and became fuel for a study of society under Prohibition, emerging psychiatry, modern nutrition, etc.I am researching Dorothy Ellingson and now trying to piece together her family. Her father was Joacinius Joseph Ellingson, born ca. 1877 in Norway.Mother was Anna Erickson b. ca 1880 in Norway.Joseph was a tailor, first in Minneapolis, where children Earl (1902) and Dorothy (1909) were born, then in Alameda and San Francisco, California.Father of Anna Erickson were Nels Erickson, living in Minneapolis at the time of the murder.Dorothy had a crime-riddled life following her release from prison and married Robert M. Stafford,Earl married a Rose, eventually settled and died in Los Angeles.
Any information on this family would be greatly appreciated.Related persons will receive a summary of my recent findings.
