Elizabeth Potts Ellison wife of Robert, Fairfield..
Does anyone have access to an actual/official marriage record for Robert Ellison and Elizabeth Potts Ellison?
I keep reading various sites that show they were married in 1772, but according to another source:
"There is recorded in the clerk's office at Winnsboro, Fairfield District, a conveyance
to Valentine Rochel of one hundred acres of land by Robert Ellison and his wife
Elizabeth Ellison[late Elizabeth Potts], the said land being an original grant to
Elizabeth Potts dated 4th day of May, 1775. Witness to deed, Susannah Potts Ellison and
James Linn. The date of this deed is December 10, 1788."
According to the above, Elizabeth was still a Potts in 1775, 3 years after she is said to have married Robert Ellison..
Anyone have any ideas on this?
