Elricks of Monkwearmouth County Durham & Scotland
My paternal great grandmother was born Sarah Isabella Elrick in January 1857 and had 2 brothers John Elrick and Thomas Alexander Elrick. Their parents were John Elrick (senior) who was born in Leatland Scotland in or about 1810/1811, and Sarah Elrick (nee Bealby). Both John & Sarah Elrick are buried in Sunderland.
My great gr'mother's brother John Elrick (junior) married Elizabeth Alice Corner in Sunderland in 1886 but much later they went to live in Ontario Canada and I have found that they are both buried in Edmonton Canada. Their children were Elisabeth S Elrick, Jennie E Elrick, John R Elrick, Noel B Elrick & Richard C Elrick. Some of them may still live in Canada.Sadly I know that Noel Elrickdied in the First World War in 1916.
The youngest brother Thomas Alexander Elrick married Mary Kidd Hutchinson in Sunderland also in 1886. They settled in Belper, Derbyshire and had children Mary Minnie Elrick and Thomas Alexander Victor Elrick. I have later found reference to their son Thomas A V Elrick marrying in Australia some years later and I do not know if the whole of that side of the family emigrated to Oz so there may be other family members there.
I have carried out the majority of this research myself and it has already been most exciting!
I would love to hear from any ELRICKS who share a common ancestor.
Kind regards,
Monica Vickery
