Hi Karen,
I saw your posting and hoping you may shed some light on a question I have of Jeremiah Emeigh.I am a descendent of "Reynolds" families of Sanilac Co, MI.
I find a Mary Reynolds, married April 26, 1880 to a Jeremiah Emeigh, marriage recorded in Sanilac Co, MI.It is my belief, that Mary was a widow of George (d. 1875) Reynolds of Worth Twp, Sanilac Co, MI.
In the 1880 census for Jeremiah, I find him, and some of his children from his marriage to Sarah Loop (d. 1878), but no Mary listed. This census was taken June 1880, and the marriage at Sanilac between Mary Reynolds and Jeremiah Emeigh was in April of 1880...so she should have appeared in that census, unless she was visiting elsewhere, to date haven't located her.The interesting thing is that Jeremiah's enumerator in the 1880 census made 2 tick marks; one in the column of he being widowed, and the other tick in the column indicating he married within the census year.So I haven't yet located a death record for Mary Reynolds Emeigh, but it would be curious to see, if Jeremiah's family may have known about this 2nd marriage, and if so, any information on her; Mary. I don't see Mary either in the Mortality schedules for 1880/Michigan...so not sure if he indicated he was "widowed" by his 1st wife Sarah, or perhaps his 2nd wife Mary.
Any help?
Thank you in advance.
