I believe they are also all related although I have yet to find proof positive. What I do know for certain is this. In the 1850 Census, the widowed Margaret Empson Blackman and her two sons, William S. and Bennet L. were living with Gregory Jackson Empson (AKA Jackson Gregory or G.J. Empson or J.G. Empson) and his wife Julia.Margaret's son, William S. Blackman wrote an autobiography and included some small snippets of genealogical information. For example that his grandfather William Empson moved to Saline Co, IL from Robertson County, TN shortly before his death. Also that his mother had three sisters who lived in the Brushy Creek area of Saline County.I believe the third sister was Jerusha Ann who married William L. Mitchell but have been unable to verify this either. She may have also been known as Polly.Again, informed theories, not proven facts. The Empsons are not actually my family, the Blackmans are, but they interest me.Especially G.J. Empson who had several wives and tons of children. On a gossipy note, one of his marriages ended in divorce in less than a year. His wife charged him with assault on her and her unborn child.
