Robert,
Just going over some old postings looking for new clues on Lary Epps of Lincoln Co. We have communicated before on this forum. I am of of Lary through his son James and his son Lawrence who died in Rutherford County and lived at Christiana most of his adult life after the civil war. I have recently written two short articles for my heritage book on the civil war experiences of Lawrence and his brother John Norris based on their pensions documents, an interview by state with John in 1922, and my researches on the military history of the 8th Tn Inf Reg. If you would be interested in seeing these let me know and I will email them to you.
My quest is in one of your postings you mention that Rueben who is the grandson of Lary through Gilbert his son is related to Peterson Irby Epps. How are they connected and where did you get the data that showed this connection.
The 1820 census shows that he was in Williamson Co. along with Joshua his brother? And I have data that shows Lary was deeded two land tracts one for 50 acres and one for 79 acres in Lincoln on Cane Creek in 1819. The land was in Captian Poulston's Company. These tracts were part of an original 2140 ac grant to Alexander Greer for service in revolutionary war that passed to the heirs of Andrew Greer. As you know Lary was in Wilson Co. in 1806 on tax list probably alon Spring Creek in an area that later became know as the Donell Settlement and he was still there in 1807 when he married. Do you know anything about him between 1807 and 1819 when he was deeded his Lincoln land. After being the only Epps in Lincoln in 1820 we see that Irby and a Joshua show up in the area just north of the area that Lary lived in in 1830. I don't how this Joshua is related exactly to Irby because their is also a Joshua that remained in Williamson Co. on 1830 census. I believe it is a younger brother and the only other person listed under Joshua in Lincoln was 70-80 yr old female. On the 1840 Irby has moved on probably to Miss.Tishimingo co. where some of Lary's descendants also were born. This seems to imply that they were related as you say but I have not established their connection. Your post suggest that you have made this connection. Please let me know if this is true and how they connect.
