Re: Mary A. Miller,Epps,MO.
Hi Lawrence: I had and uncle Lawrence named Lawrence who lived in Poplar Bluff, MO.
The Lucinda Epps that I referred to in the previous post was the daughter of Joshua Epps, son of Daniel Epps (the original Epps settler in Butler County). This Lucinda was born in 1831 and died in 1888. I don't find any indication that she ever married.Lucy and Lucinda are fairly common names in the Epps family.
There may be a connection between the Butler County, MO Epps clan and the Eppses in Lincoln County, Tennessee. Before they moved west into Missouri, Daniel Epps and his brother, Edward, lived near Murphreesboro, in Rutherford County, TN.They had married sisters when they were still in North Carolina.Edward was a blacksmith and died young as the result of getting kicked in the head by a horse. His wife moved back to NC where they had land holdings.Daniel departed sometime after for Butler County, MO, arriving in 1819-20. Joshua was born in Tennessee.
My suggestion in your search for Irby would be to check the 1930 census records for Rutherford County and the adjacent counties in Tennessee. My notes suggest that a whole bunch of Eppses passed though Tennessee on the way west. Some stopped and settled, some didn't.Good luck in your search.
