Just saw your message asking who was the best expect on the Epps of TN. I am not sure about just TN. But the leading expect on the Epps/Epes/Eppes is, I think,John Frederick Dorman. His books on the Epps family are the best I ever found. Our family connection is with the Epps is a TN link but going back to VA and Kent.
