I also noted on the 1880 soundex that G.P.Y. had a daughter name Cara An !0. I have another note and I don't no exactly where the origina source for this comes from. It may be from the Evergreen Cemetery data in Rutherford Co. but I am not sure. It states that George Peterson Young Epps b.1838 m.
1876 in Williamson Co. Mary Iserbeller (Chester) Epps B. 1854 Dickson Co. I thought this might be of some use. Sorry I can't be more specific about source. I was probably tired near the end of a long day at the Library and got sloppy. You say that the G. stands for Gilbert. Does this mean this G.P.Y. is different for your Gilbert P. Y.?
By the way I guess I will concede to you and Chris that Lawrence Epps married Mary Mason and had a son John who was 3 months on 1870 census. I believe they both must have died and he later married my great grandmother in Dec 1 1871 shortly after her death. Another issue is Mary's middle initial
It is M. on some sources and J. on other census records. Which is correct?
To further confuse the issue there is a Lawrence Epps on the 1880 census who is 37 and he is married to a Mary 31 both born in Ala. and they have a Fannie 6, Alice 4, and James 2. This puts the birth of the Lawrence close to the other but Mary is b. abt 1849 and therefore this couple is another Lawrence and Mary. They are in Bedford Co. My grandfather went to school with a Lawrence Epps in high school at Bell Buckle in Bedford County in 1903 when he was 18. Assuming Lawrence was about the same age would put his birth around 1885. I have not been able to link him up but I suspect he is a son of Lawrence and Mary of Bedford Co. Both of the boys in high school gave their P.O. as Christiana Tennessee which is nearby to Bell Buckle just up Epps road. This is also the area that my great grandfather Lawrence who married Mary Elizabeth Smith and earlier apparently Mary Mason ran a grist mill.
If you have any of these other two Lawrence Epps worked out I would appreciate the help.
Good hunting. Hope this has something new you can use.
