Re: Henrietta Shelton M. John Esque, Parents John Shelton & Sarah "Sallie" Shelt
Henrietta Shelton was my great grandmother. She was married to John Esque and they had eleven children - Dyke, French, Anne, Josephine, John, Robert, Millard, Stanford, Hartley, Mary and my grandmother, Bertie. My grandmother married James E. Cobb and they had five children - Tyson, Roy, (my mother Priscilla) Orville and James. My mother married Irvin Humphreys and had three children - David, Bertie Anne (me) and John.I married Bill Rice and had two sons - Matthew and John.
Henrietta was the daughter of John Shelton and Sarah (Sallie) McComas. Her father was General Elijah McComas who fought in the war of 1812 and was stationed for a while at Fort McHenry where the Star Spangled Banner was written. Elijah McComas was married to Annie French who was the daughter of Matthew French who fought in the revolutionary war - the family can be traced back to England through Jamestown colony.
