Hi Yolie,

I do know about Spanish speaking countries using both their father's and mother's, last names.

I still think that Vicente Ferrel is one's person name or let's say on my anscestor. His father's name was Nicolas Martin/or Martinez de Moncada and his mother Beatriz de Esquibel. Vicente Ferrel de Esquibel paternal grandparents were Juan Martin/or Martinez de Salazar and Estefana de Moncada. Maternal grandparents Nicolas de Esquibel and Beatriz de Espitia.

Notice the two Moncada's meaning they were probably related somehow, like second or third cousins, at that time frame some people married distant cousins.

I also need to tell you that I have found other Vicente Ferrel's, than again it fits more into just one person, with a last name such as Vicente Ferrel de Esquibel. Is just like Juan Pablo and Juan Carlos, according to my investigation. BUT, never say never, you might be right.

In your research, are there any Ferrel's or is it only for Vicente Ferrel's? If you notice maybe the siblings are not Ferrel's? If other names such as Juan Ferrel, Maria Ferrel of Beatriz Ferrel, than you might be right.

Let me know maybe you know something that I don't.

Mercy
