Peter Akey (Pierre Ethier)b. abt 1796

By Lynn Benn May 29, 2000 at 07:56:12

I have been trying to trace one of my husband's family lines and have hit a brick wall. I am hoping someone out there may
be able to help me. I am trying to locate the parents and possible siblings of Peter Akey (Pierre Ethier)b. abt 1796 in
Quebec, Canada.

Peter left Quebec and moved to Ontario however I am not sure exactly when he left Quebec.

Peter married Lorraine Wager on June 17, 1822 in Fredericksburgh, Lennox and Addington County, Ontario. Peter and
Lorraine moved sometime later to the Tweed area of Hungerford Township, Hastings County, Ontario. Known children
of Peter were Peter b. Jan 11, 1825; Thomas b. Jan 5, 1827 and Amab, an unusual name to say the least, b. Jul 18,
1833. There may have been another son named Joseph b. 1823 but have not been able to confirm that.

Some of the older members of the family say "AMAB" is an old family name which was passed down in the family. I think
the name may have been "AMABLE" originally in French but the English record keepers couldn't spell it so it was spelt
the way it sounded to them and the spelling stuck.

I would be very interested in any information you may have in your family history information which may connect to Peter
and am willing to share what I have on this family.

Hope to hear from you soon.
Lynn
